Position Overview
The Director of IT Infrastructure and Operations is responsible for leading and managing Neurogene’s global IT infrastructure and operations. Reporting directly to the Head of IT, this role will oversee the development, implementation, and maintenance of the company’s information systems, networks, IT infrastructure, and cloud applications to support business objectives and ensure operational excellence. As a key member of the IT Leadership Team, the Director will play a critical role in shaping the user experience while ensuring robust and secure IT operations.
Accountabilities and Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership: Provide leadership in the management, development, and networking of IT systems, including infrastructure, servers, cloud-based applications (SaaS), database maintenance, storage, backup, and phone systems.
- Team Leadership & Development: Lead the IT operations, cloud, networking, and support teams, offering mentorship and professional growth opportunities.
- Information Management: Lead initiatives related to the design, documentation, implementation, integration, and configuration of hardware, software, policies, and procedures to meet evolving business requirements.
- Budget Management: Develop and oversee the Infrastructure & Operations (I&O) budget, ensuring cost-effective resource allocation and spend.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with IT Cybersecurity and Data Governance teams to implement security enhancements and disaster recovery solutions, minimizing operational risks.
- Vendor & Contract Management: Manage software purchases, agreements, and vendor relationships to align IT investments with company objectives.
- Technology Innovation: Evaluate and implement emerging technologies to enhance the scalability, performance, and efficiency of IT systems.
- Compliance & Security: Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and data privacy requirements, with a focus on robust cybersecurity practices.
- Operational Excellence: Continuously improve IT infrastructure processes to support optimal business outcomes and ensure high performance and availability of systems.
Minimum Requirements
- Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
- Experience
- 10+ years of experience in IT infrastructure and operations management, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role
- Licenses or Certifications
- Relevant certifications (e.g., Azure, VMWare, Cisco,ITIL, CISSP) are preferred
- Knowledge & Skills
- Life Science and Biotech industry knowledge
- US FDA and European GDPR patient data regulations
- Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Power BI, Power Apps, Azure and Office productivity suite.
- Strong knowledge of cloud technologies, networking, and IT service management
- Experience with enterprise-level IT systems and applications
- Experience in computer operations, network management, technical management, and end-user support
- Familiarity with ITIL processes and experience implementing and/or managing IT incident/service request management, IT configuration management, ITAM/CMDB, and computer system validationCybersecurity threat assessment and incident coordination.
